What it does — and what it will never do

Expense tools get sold into the wrong problem all the time. Here is the boundary, stated before you buy rather than discovered afterwards.

Working today

Everything here is in production and in daily use.

  • Receipt capture with AI field extraction
  • Monthly statement submission and approval
  • Approval chains routed per entity and department
  • Corporate card detection by registered last four digits
  • AmEx statement reconciliation against receipts
  • Settlement batches for reimbursement
  • Budgets by category, department and month
  • QuickBooks Online sync with AI-assisted mapping
  • Multiple entities under one organization
  • Natural-language assistant over your own data
  • CSV and PDF export, SOX audit log

In scope, not built yet

We'd rather list these than let you assume they exist.

  • Card issuers other than AmEx — statement import currently supports AmEx only.
  • CPA / advisor workspace — one accountant working across several client organizations.

Deliberately out of scope

These are not roadmap items. Claimbook complements your accounting system; it does not replace it.

  • Payroll — salaries, taxes, benefits.
  • Revenue, invoicing and accounts receivable — Claimbook handles money going out, not coming in.
  • Bank account connections — we never ask for banking credentials.
  • We don't own the general ledger — your books stay in QuickBooks or your accounting system. We do write approved expenses into it as transactions.
  • Tax filing — we produce records your accountant files from.
  • Fixed assets and inventory.
  • Card issuing — we read the card you already have; we don't issue one.

How far the bookkeeping goes

Once an expense is approved, Claimbook creates it as a transaction in QuickBooks — with the GL account and vendor mapping applied. For the expense side of the books, Claimbook does the bookkeeping.

Where it sits

Claimbook is in the same category as Expensify, Concur, Zoho Expense and Dext. It is a different kind of product from Ramp and Brex, which are card issuers; from Pilot and Bench, which are managed bookkeeping services; and from Gusto, which is payroll.
